Job Description
VERTEX is seeking an experienced hygienist trained and accredited in Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and Asbestos Inspections and Monitoring to join our growing Industrial Hygiene & Building Sciences practice in the Northeast US region.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct tasks related to project monitoring, Asbestos/Lead surveys, IAQ/mold assessments, and/or other project assignments as appropriate.
- Perform air monitoring duties for asbestos abatement activities - from inspection to abatement oversight and monitoring
- Analyze laboratory and engineering data
- Prepare portions of Asbestos Survey and clearance reports, IAQ/Mold assessments, and/or other technical assessment reports
- Maintain consistent communication of project progress with the assigned project manager from start to finish of the project.
- Maintain assessment and monitoring equipment
- Prepare Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sites.
- Meet utilization and other performance metrics
- Make employee safety a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field preferred
- 0-1 years of experience performing IAQ and asbestos project monitoring activities
- Current Asbestos Project Monitor accreditation/license required - additional certifications/licenses a plus
- National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 582 Certification required
- Knowledge of EPA’s NESHAPs and AHERA regulations as well as Florida DEP asbestos regulations, and guidance documents.
- Understand the use of Personal Protective Equipment, including the use of respirators and current fit test and medical surveillance for asbestos projects.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English - good technical report writing skills
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities
Additional Information
- The pay rate for this role ranges from $24 - $26 per hour.
- Health and Safety Certification and Medical Monitoring pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour) and OSHA 10 or 30-hour training
- Ability/willingness for frequent regional travel up to 100%, with occasional overnight, extended stay and/or national travel.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required for this role, as it involves the frequent use of rental cars or company vehicles.
