We are seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our Woburn, MA team. The Industrial Hygienist will conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in industrial settings. Responsibilities include assessing workplace hazards, recommending control measures, and training employees on safety protocols.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting team members in conducting complex building science and/or industrial hygiene & safety assessments.
- Performing sample collection, data gathering, equipment setup, and observation documentation.
- Analyzing previous surveys to determine the need for additional sampling or to prepare scope of services.
- Independently performing field assessments, directing project teams, and assigning tasks based on skills and experience.
- Collecting environmental and personal samples, preparing samples for laboratory analysis.
- Maintaining, calibrating, and operating industrial hygiene instruments and equipment.
- Compiling analytical data, organizing data for reports, and drafting reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Implementing strategies, standards, administrative controls, and PPE requirements to control hazards.
- Performing air sampling, noise monitoring, and other environmental testing to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Developing educational and training programs on hazards and safe work practices.
- Investigating workplace incidents or complaints related to health hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborating with team members and assisting in management duties such as work scope and proposal development.
- Studying reference materials and participating in training activities.
- Utilizing Microsoft applications and internal software tools.
- Maintaining knowledge of applicable regulations and industry trends.
- Traveling to client sites, including occasional overnight stays.
- Communicating effectively with team members, clients, and contractors.
Minimum qualifications include:
- 5+ years of consulting experience in Industrial Hygiene and Building Science projects.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug-alcohol testing.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or relevant certification in project planning, environmental sciences, engineering, or related fields (field experience can substitute education).
- Ability to wear PPE, including respirators and safety harnesses.
- Experience with mold, indoor air quality, asbestos, lead-based paint, radon surveys.
- Ability to climb stairs/ladders and travel locally up to 85%.
- Reliable transportation.
Technical Requirements:
- Professional certification in asbestos, lead, or mold.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant sampling equipment and protocols.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to indoor air quality, asbestos, lead, radon, and industrial hygiene.
Other Qualities:
- Ability to work nights and weekends up to 25%.
- Regional or out-of-state travel up to 25%.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
