Job summary

Rural Metro Fire seeks an Industrial Fire Captain to lead a fire crew and oversee station operations. You will supervise response to industrial incidents, EMS calls, and HazMat events, acting as incident commander when required.

Strong leadership and compliance with NFPA standards are essential. The role requires NFPA 1001 Firefighter I, NFPA 472 HazMat Ops, EMT certification, NIMS training, and a valid driver license.

Qualifications

• Must pass background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be NFPA 1001 Firefighter I certified and NFPA 472 HazMat Operations certified.
• NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I preferred; experience as a Fire Officer required.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 training completed.
• EMT certification with ongoing maintenance.
• Valid driver license with clean driving record.
• AHA CPR/AED certification.
• NFPA1081 Confined Space Rescue, Rope Rescue I & 2, HazMat Technician (Highly Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day operation and maintenance of a fire station and the apparatus and personnel assigned to that station.
• Supervise a fire and rescue crew at emergency scenes, including fire scenes, EMS calls, HazMat incidents.
• May serve as incident commander at emergency incidents.
• Ensures participation in required training and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Completes and reviews required station/Company reports and logs.

Education

High school diploma or GED

NFPA 1001 Firefighter I (State, PROBOARD, IFSAC or equivalent)

NFPA 472 HazMat-Operations (State, PROBOARD, IFSAC or equivalent)

NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I (Preferred, experience as Fire Officer required)

NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification

AHA CPR/AED

NFPA1081 Confined Space Rescue, Rope Rescue I & 2, HazMat Technician (Highly Desirable)
