Job summary

Vallen Distribution, Inc seeks a Firefighter Captain to supervise firefighters, oversee fire suppression, medical incidents, hazmat responses, and daily inspection/maintenance tasks. The role requires knowledge of NFPA/OSHA standards and coordination with incident command on complex emergencies.

The position reports to the Division Chief or Assistant Fire Chief and involves travel up to 10% and potential offshore work considerations. Strong leadership and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required; Bachelor's in related field preferred or 6+ years of applicable direct experience and 5+ current certifications (manufacturer/state) in fire protection and/or related field.
• In-depth Firefighter II, IFSAC/ProBoard or NFPA 1081 equivalent
• Fire Officer II, IFSAC/ProBoard
• Fire Inspector II, IFSAC/ProBoard
• Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or EMT-B - preferred
• Hazardous Materials Technician
• Rope Rescue Training
• Confined Space Training
• Demonstrated ability to manage a team and customer accounts
• Demonstrated advanced computer skills
• Must read, write and comprehend English

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents; provide appropriate services including emergency rescue and fire suppression; perform search and rescue; provide emergency medical and first aid as needed; prepare incident reports.
• Personnel are subject to recall for fire or incident response; maintain staffing during storms or emergencies.
• Participate in fire prevention operations, training, investigations; equipment operation and maintenance; respond to hazmat incidents and other emergencies.
• Identify, isolate, and contain hazardous materials safely.
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining fire station, equipment and apparatus; ensure readiness of equipment.
• Oversee daily Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of emergency response equipment and life safety systems.
• Oversee EMS supplies and inventory levels; ensure stock.
• Submit requisitions for materials as necessary.
• Complete Incident and Patient Reports.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
