Job summary

Amada America, Inc. is seeking a field service technician to support customers in the Hempstead, East Meadow, and Long Island areas.

The role includes installation, service, and training for Amada Punch Presses and related machines, with travel throughout the Northeast. The position requires troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems, reading blueprints, and conducting on-site training for customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Any machining or mechanical trade degree or military experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, control systems and networks.
• Perform repairs, installations, operations and maintenance of Amada press brakes and punch presses.
• Follow layout drawings and blueprints for equipment installation.
• Complete daily service reports and weekly expense reports.
• Travel within assigned territory, including Hempstead and East Meadow.
• Provide customer training on operation and Amada software applications.

Description

To support customers with (but not limited to) Amada Punch Presses in the Long Island, NY territory. This includes installation, service, operational training, networking, programming training, software training, application training, and laser automation training. The duties are not exclusive of performing the same functions for Punch Press and combination machines, including automated material loading/unloading machines. This position will encompass the Hempstead and East Meadow areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Proficient in trouble shooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, control systems as well as networks.
• Include repairs, installations, basic operations and maintenance of Amada press brakes, punch press.
• Able to precisely follow layout drawings and blue prints used in the installation of equipment.
• Complete status (service) reports on a daily basis and expense reports on a weekly basis.
• The ability to communicate in the English language.
• Excellent customer relations and follow through.
• Managing the total equipment installation process at Customer site entailing use of hand tools, climbing, bending, stooping.
• Operation, applications, software, and part programming capabilities, and customer training of such.
• Use of Amada applications software used in line control and part programming.
• Regular travel within assigned territories.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

EDUCATION

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Any machining or mechanical trade degree or military experience is a plus.

SKILLS

• Ability to analyze and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, optical and electrical systems.
• Ability to use hand tools, Volt/Ohm meter and Oscilloscope.
• Working knowledge of computers and Windows OS.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Being accountable and responsible to service and support a customer through all aspects of the customer's ownership of the machine.
• Strong electrical and mechanical experience

TRAVEL

• Routine travel within assigned territories with occasional overnight stays.
• Territory - Hempstead NY, East Meadow, NY, Long Island, NY
• Travel anywhere in the Northeast for machine training
• Assigned training outside of the Northeast when necessary
• There will be significant overnight travel during the first few years until the person can manage the customers in Long Island and address their needs.
• Must be open to traveling anywhere within the United States at the beginning of their career with Amada

PAY RATE

• $30.00 per hour but can be negotiable with relevant industry experience.
