Job summary

CMC offers a summer internship in Seguin, Texas, exposing students to recycling centers, fabrication plants, manufacturing facilities, steel mills, and offices. You will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and industry guidance from professionals committed to helping you grow and succeed.

You will cross-train across departments, identify cost-saving opportunities, and work on process-improvement projects with the CMC team, culminating in a final presentation.

Qualifications

• Must possess a strong interest in Industrial Engineering Technologies and be enrolled at Junior/Senior level education.
• Able to work a flexible schedule to include 40 hour work weeks during summer (June-August).
• Able to work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of processes in Microsoft Windows and engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Ability to understand and apply ISO work instructions and standard operating practices and procedures.
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
• Push and pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs.
• Strong communication skills; English required.
• Previous internship experiences preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cross-train through the department to learn hands-on skills related to industrial/engineering technologies.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend cost-saving opportunities through process, quality, and safety improvements.
• Work closely with the CMC Team on process improvement initiatives and projects.
• Presentation/report on an improvement project at the end of internship.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge and collaboration.
• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
