Job summary

Martin Marietta Salisbury Shop invites engineering interns to gain hands-on experience supporting engineering, fabrication, machining, and repair operations in a crusher repair facility.

You will work with experienced engineers, machinists, welders, and maintenance staff, applying classroom knowledge to real-world industrial settings while developing technical, analytical, and project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Automation Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in both office and shop environments.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, or perform physical activities for extended periods as required.
• Ability to wear PPE, including safety glasses, safety-toe shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, high-visibility clothing, and other required safety equipment while in operational areas.

Responsibilities

• Follow and promote safety, environmental, and ethical standards in all activities.
• Participate in safety initiatives and support a culture of safety excellence.
• Demonstrate safety consciousness, dependability, motivation, and professionalism daily.
• Identify and assist with projects that improve facility and process safety, quality control, and 5S adoption.
• Identify and scope projects increasing automated processes in mechanics, welding, machining, and warehousing.
• Record and develop work instructions for repair processes.
• Assist in transitioning quality control from paper to digital.
• Gain hands-on experience using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, vision systems).
• Observe and support CNC machining and CNC cutting processes.
• Gain exposure to welding operations and machine assembly/disassembly.
• Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, machining, and maintenance teams to support objectives.
• Demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and a strong work ethic while working independently and as part of a team.
