Job summary

SMP Automotive System Alabama Inc. in Cottondale, AL, is seeking an Industrial Engineer to standardize production and drive project implementation.

You will coordinate material flow with logistics, design workplaces with Ergonomics in mind, and generate value stream maps and production layouts to improve efficiency. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Engineering, 2–3 years' experience, and skills in CAD/AutoCAD, MTM/REFA, and Lean methods, with English and possibly German or Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 2–3 years of engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Project management experience.
• Secondary equipment planning / procurement.
• Production and factory planning.
• CAD (AutoCAD) and MS Office proficiency.
• Value Stream Mapping and MTM/REFA familiarity.
• Lean Manufacturing – Toyota Production System – Poka-Yoke.
• Ergonomics awareness and English/German/Spanish advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Material flow planning in cooperation with the logistics planning department.
• Workplace design and specifications with HQ/Ergonomics.
• Generating Value Stream Maps, flow diagrams, production layouts.
• Involvement in development and introduction of new techniques.
• Involvement in designing customer articles for production.
• Generation of and involvement in process FMEAs.
• Determining the required secondary equipment and generating specs.
• Construction monitoring, acceptance, and production launch of secondary equipment.
• Plan and execute Kaizen and MTM analyses.
• Daily startup and series support.
