Job summary

Medtronic plc is seeking an Industrial Engineer I in Fridley, MN, to support continuous improvement across manufacturing operations. You will analyze processes, conduct time studies, and drive Lean and Six Sigma projects in a regulated environment to boost throughput and reduce waste.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams to develop standardized work, optimize layouts, and enable data-driven decisions for measurable on-floor results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 0–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments preferred (Medical devices, pharma, biotech).
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with time studies, capacity analysis, process mapping, or facility layout.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Minitab, SAP, and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support process improvement initiatives focused on increasing throughput, reducing waste, improving productivity, and reducing costs.
  • Conduct time studies, capacity analyses, and labor utilization studies to support operational decision making.
  • Support development and optimization of facility layouts, equipment utilization, workspaces, and material flow.
  • Develop and implement standardized work, visual management systems, and process controls to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams to address operational challenges and implement sustainable solutions.

Leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving methodologies, you will support improvement projects, facilitate process analysis, and help drive positive change across the organization. Through the application of tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, DMAIC, and data analysis, you will help improve process flow, standardize processes, and strengthen a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a collaborative, hands-on engineer who enjoys working directly with manufacturing teams, solving problems, and developing solutions that deliver measurable results.
