Job summary

City of Oxnard seeks an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Electrician to join the on-site maintenance team. You will perform installation, maintenance, and testing of industrial electrical systems across wastewater facilities, ensuring reliable operation and safety compliance.

You will diagnose complex electrical issues, interpret schematics and blueprints, and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance staff to minimize downtime, while adhering to NEC, CWEA standards and city safety

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) years of journey-level experience performing industrial electrical maintenance.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
• CWEA Electrical & Instrumentation Technologist (EIT) certification within eighteen (18) months of appointment
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial electrical systems.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain motors, MCCs, and VFDs, switchgear, and related equipment.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, and specifications.
• Install conduit, pull and terminate conductors per codes and standards.
• Diagnose electrical failures using standard testing equipment and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain standby generators, ATS, and emergency power systems.
• Install and service CCTV systems and monitoring equipment.
• Follow LOTO, arc flash, and other safety procedures; work safely in industrial wastewater environments.
