Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrician for its Walker, MI plant. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and fixtures in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include wiring, troubleshooting, following blueprints, and mentoring apprentices. A state license is preferred and a high school diploma with 3+ years of relevant experience is required. 2nd shift (2PM-10PM) on-site in Walker, MI.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent plus four years of industrial electrician experience.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English to safely perform job duties.
• State Licensed Electrician / Journeyman Card holder preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in manufacturing environments as an Industrial Electrician.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring and fixtures per local and national codes.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment to locate and fix issues.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspect systems to identify hazards and ensure compliance with codes.
• Plan layout and installation of wiring and fixtures based on specifications and codes.
• Direct and train apprentices in installation, maintenance, or repair of electrical wiring and fixtures.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to locate wiring and equipment and ensure safety compliance.
• Use a variety of tools and equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
• Perform duties as part of plant operations and in emergencies using floodlights and generators.
