Job summary

Celanese is seeking an Electric & Instrumentation Technician for the Chester, VA site. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment on a 12-hour rotating shift for a team of 12. Onsite at 3600 Discovery Drive, Chester, VA 23836.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, calibration, debugging PLC/DCS systems, and equipment upgrades. Requires 3+ years in industrial maintenance, schematics, and test tools, with SAP experience and safety training.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing Electrical & Instrumentation Equipment in Industrial / Manufacturing environments.
• Experience reading schematics
• Experience using test equipment and hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Checks and performs preventive maintenance on motor control center equipment; repairs or replaces motors as needed.
• Operates computer keyboard daily to input data into the Maintenance Management System (SAP); records time and material charged to a work order.
• Acts as a resource for operations areas daily to provide an understanding of system function.
• Maintains calibration records, job procedures and manuals regularly.
• Performs ISO calibration on strain gauges, yardage counters, temperature controllers, etc.
• Overhauls production and process equipment on film lines, polymer lines, slitting machines and cooling towers.
• Inspects equipment and repairs and/or modifies equipment using hand tools.
• Repairs electrical equipment such as motors, generators, AC and DC drives, MCCs, power distribution panels, etc.
• Tests, troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment and electrical circuits daily using multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
• Troubleshoots process control computer systems (DCS/PLC) and controls instruments processors; troubleshoots drives and line speed systems.
• Upgrades drawings and schematics to reflect as-built or modernized technology.
• Follows safe work practices and uses lock/tag/try procedures.
• Maintains Corona treater and fabricates mounting/tubing connections.
• Performs capital project work and assists in shutdown planning.
