Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their Upington team. You will design electrical systems ranging from power distribution to specialized control systems, ensuring safety and compliance with applicable standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
Strong understanding of power distribution and control systems; knowledge of electrical codes.
Renewable energy project design experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, and specifications for projects.
Perform load analysis, voltage drop, and short-circuit studies.
Select components and materials based on project requirements.
Prepare technical drawings and documentation using CAD software.
Collaborate with project managers and other disciplines for design integration.
Review and approve designs prepared by vendors or external consultants.
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
