Job summary

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) seeks an Industrial Controls Technician I to support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of operational technology and control systems across vehicles, facilities, and transit infrastructure.

Working under procedural direction, you will assist with field installations, SCADA devices, and related hardware, document work, and collaborate with Application Administrators, Infrastructure teams, and vendors to keep 24/7 operations reliable

Qualifications

Associate degree in electronics or related technical field or equivalent experience.
Experience with electronic equipment and field technology environments preferred.
Public-sector or transit-related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Install, set up, replace, and maintain operational technology equipment and control devices.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on systems.
Support SCADA-connected devices and field control systems.
Diagnose issues, replace components, and coordinate with technical teams.
Document installations, maintenance, and configurations.
Follow safety procedures in transit environments.
