Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead industrial construction efforts from planning through completion at our Birmingham, AL sites. You will manage crews, coordinate staffing, procurement, and safety compliance while ensuring alignment with project specs and timelines.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in metal building and concrete construction within industrial manufacturing environments, with strong leadership and OSHA knowledge.

Qualifications

• 4–10 years of experience with metal building and concrete construction.
• Strong background in industrial manufacturing environments, not commercial office buildings.
• Hands-on steel erection and concrete construction experience.
• Proven supervision of crews and coordination of multiple work phases.
• Ability to read and apply construction specifications and documents.
• Plan and manage construction schedules, staffing, and resources across phases.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and supervisory personnel to prevent delays.
• Leadership skills managing supervisory and non-supervisory employees on site.
• Solid understanding of OSHA rules and enforcing safety on site.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Able to work in loud, dirty industrial environments while maintaining safety.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of industrial construction projects from planning to completion.
• Develop staffing plans and schedules for each phase.
• Coordinate procurement of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Direct and coordinate supervisors, clerical, engineering, and field personnel.
• Collaborate to address workforce concerns and grievances.
• Resolve construction problems and improve methods and processes on site.
• Inspect progress and ensure adherence to schedules and specs.
• Prepare progress reports with materials and costs; adjust schedules as needed.
• Supervise crews on maintenance or reconditioning projects safely and to spec.
• Lead onsite activities at industrial facilities and drive project execution.
