Job summary
Besser Company in Alpena, Michigan, is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop, program, test, and commission automated industrial machinery for the concrete masonry industry.
The role involves programming PLCs and HMIs, developing robot sequences, testing at customer sites, cooperating with multi-disciplinary teams, and documenting processes. Travel willingness is expected for on-site support and commissioning.
Qualifications
- Three years of industry related experience.
- Education preferred but equivalent technical education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Program and troubleshoots PLCs, HMIs, and FANUC robots using software such as Studio5000, FactoryTalk, ROBOGUIDE, and Teach Pendant Program (TPP).
- Develops robot sequences, machine logic, and robotic simulations.
- Tests, debugs, commissions equipment in-house and at customer sites, and provide remote support.
- Collaborates with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to integrate automation into new equipment.
- Prepares technical documentation and support continuous improvement.
- Researches new technologies and improve automation processes
- Performs other duties as assigned.
