UPS in Oklahoma City is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician to support the package sorting system and related equipment. The role covers a broad range of maintenance tasks to keep UPS facilities operating efficiently; shift is 1pm–10pm, Monday through Friday, at 901 South Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73108.

This permanent, full-time position offers a starting pay of $37.75 per hour with benefits and weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

• Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving ability.
• Proficient in the safe use of common shop tools and equipment.
• Experience in maintenance on conveyor belts.
• Knowledge of electrical and building schematics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair mechanical components including motors, belts, pulleys, and conveyors.
• Troubleshoot and replace electrical equipment such as control stations, relays, and PLCs.
• Inspect and service pneumatic equipment like compressors, hoses, and coils.
• Inspect and repair hydraulic components such as hoses and pumps.
• Weld handrails, conveyor supports, and related structures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on conveyors and plant equipment.

Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician

position supports the package sorting system, including belt conveyors. In our industry this position is also known as Plant Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic. This position is responsible for a broad range of maintenance activities that are performed to keep UPS package handling facilities operating efficiently and effectively. The work can be fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other operations employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
• Troubleshooting, adjusting and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers and PLC
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps
• Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating
• Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment

• Successful completion of required testing
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills
• Proficient in the safe use of common shop tools and equipment
• Experience in performing maintenance on conveyor belts is an asset
• Knowledge of electrical and building schematics is an asset

Compensation And Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay for this position is $37.75 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
