Job summary

UPS is hiring for a Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician to support the package sorting system in Tulsa, OK. The role involves maintaining conveyors, motors, belts, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, and related equipment, with a 1pm–10pm shift and Monday–Friday workdays.

Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, safe-use of shop tools, and the ability to read electrical/building schematics. Starting pay is $37.75 per hour plus comprehensive benefits after probation.

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, or replace mechanical components like motors, belts, pulleys, and rollers
• Troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC/DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers and PLC
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, or replace pneumatic equipment like air compressors and hoses
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, or replace hydraulic equipment such as hoses and pumps
• Weld equipment like handrails and conveyor supports
• Perform preventive maintenance on conveyors, bulk carts, and power equipment

Job Description

Maintenance Mechanic or Industrial Electrician position supports the package sorting system, including belt conveyors. In our industry this position is also known as Plant Mechanic or Industrial Mechanic. This position is responsible for a broad range of maintenance activities that are performed to keep UPS package handling facilities operating efficiently and effectively. The work can be fast-paced and requires routine interaction with other operations employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
• Troubleshooting, adjusting and replacing AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, timers and PLC
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing pneumatic equipment such as flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils
• Inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps
• Welding equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating
• Performing preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment

• Successful completion of required testing
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to demonstrate mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills
• Proficient in the safe use of common shop tools and equipment
• Experience in performing maintenance on conveyor belts is an asset
• Knowledge of electrical and building schematics is an asset

Compensation And Benefits

The starting pay for this position is $37.75 per hour.
