Job summary

Atlas Fibre is seeking an Industrial Automation Cell Programmer to design, program, and commission ABB RAPID robots end to end on the factory floor in Northbrook, IL. You will integrate Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 PLCs with sensors and actuators, configure EtherCAT networks, and lead development through production commissioning, ensuring robust fault handling.

Ideal candidates will have ABB RAPID proficiency, Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 experience, and a strong background in on-floor commissioning and systems

• Configure and troubleshoot EtherCAT networks and devices.
• Lead projects from development through production commissioning, directly on the manufacturing floor.
• Design robust sequences, interlocks, fault handling, and recovery routines.
• Interpret electrical schematics to debug industrial control issues.

Required Experience

• ABB robot programming and commissioning with strong RAPID proficiency.

• On-floor commissioning and troubleshooting of automation equipment.

• Experience moving projects from development to production commissioning.

Preferred experience

• ABB RobotStudio and SafeMove.
• Beckhoff TwinSAFE; servo and motion control on Beckhoff platforms.
• CNC machine-tool integration or robotic tending.
• Machine vision (Cognex, Keyence, ABB Vision, or comparable).
• OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, MQTT, or similar industrial protocols.
• Python, C#, C++, or comparable programming background.
• Automated pallet/tool handling, CMMs, and inspection systems.
• Multi-robot or multi-machine cell experience.
• Digital twin/offline simulation tools.
