Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Robotics Programming to lead ABB robotics programming and troubleshooting on a high‑volume automation line. The role focuses on programming, debugging, commissioning, and optimizing robotic work cells and integrating with PLCs.

You'll work closely with controls, quality, and production teams to reduce downtime, improve cycle times, and ensure safe, reliable automation across paint, testing, and assembly operations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial robotics and manufacturing automation experience.
  • Extensive hands-on ABB industrial robot programming and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of ABB RobotStudio and ABB robot controller platforms.
  • Experience developing, modifying, debugging, and optimizing robotic programs.
  • Strong robotic troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience integrating robots with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of robot interfaces with sensors, tooling, conveyors, safety systems, and peripheral equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, troubleshoot, and commission ABB industrial robots and robotic work cells.
  • Develop, modify, debug, and optimize ABB robot programs.
  • Provide hands-on shop-floor troubleshooting for production-critical robotic systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve downtime related to robots, controls, tooling, sensors, cabling, and automation equipment.
  • Integrate robotic systems with PLCs, vision systems, sensors, conveyors, tooling, safety systems, and peripheral equipment.
  • Work closely with PLC/Controls Engineers to identify root causes and implement permanent solutions.
  • Optimize robot configurations, including harnesses, cabling, and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT).
  • Support robotic system validation, testing, startup, and commissioning.
  • Drive improvements in cycle time, OEE, equipment reliability, safety, and product quality.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring robotic and manufacturing issues.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, troubleshooting documentation, training materials, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Controls, Quality, Maintenance, Product Engineering, and Production teams.

Job description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Robotics Programming with strong hands‑on experience in ABB industrial robot programming and troubleshooting. This role will provide technical support and leadership for robotic automation systems supporting engine assembly, testing, and paint operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with ABB RobotStudio, ABB robot controllers, robotic program optimization, commissioning, PLC integration, and shop‑floor troubleshooting.

  • Comfortable maintaining a strong shop‑floor presence.
Preferred Skills
  • Vision‑guided robotics and automated inspection.
  • Robotic commissioning and new production‑line startup.
  • Arc welding, material handling, assembly, machine tending, or paint robotics.
  • Industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • High‑volume manufacturing experience.
  • Automotive, engine, heavy‑equipment, or similar manufacturing experience.
