Responsibilities

• Diagnose programming errors and controller faults; optimize movements to reduce cycle times.
• Support installation, commissioning, and production trials for robotic processes.
• Maintain backups, revision records, and setup instructions.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Robot Programmer with experience programming, setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing ABB industrial robots and related automation software. This position supports manufacturing operations by developing reliable robot programs, improving production efficiency, and maintaining product quality. The ideal candidate can independently create and modify programs, diagnose problems, and support the integration of robots with manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot robot programs using ABB RAPID programming language.
• Use ABB RobotStudio for offline programming, simulation, path development, and collision checking.
• Set up and adjust robot positions, motion paths, tool center points, work objects, speeds, and payload settings.
• Operate the ABB FlexPendant to teach positions, edit programs, review alarms, and troubleshoot equipment.
• Configure and troubleshoot robot communication with PLCs, sensors, grippers, fixtures, and other production equipment.
• Diagnose programming errors, controller faults, positioning issues, and process inconsistencies.
• Optimize robot movements and production sequences to reduce cycle times, downtime, and scrap.
• Support installation, commissioning, and production trials for new or modified robotic processes.
• Maintain program backups, revision records, setup instructions, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Work with engineering, maintenance, production, and quality teams to resolve issues and train operators.
• Follow established robot safety, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience programming ABB industrial robots in a manufacturing environment.
• Working proficiency with RAPID and RobotStudio.
• Familiarity with RobotWare, ABB's robot controller software.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting IRC5 and/or OmniCore controllers and their FlexPendant interfaces.
• Understanding of robot coordinate systems, tooling, calibration, and input/output signals.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to complete programming and process adjustments independently.
• Effective communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• ABB robotics programming or technical training.
• Experience with PLC programming, industrial networks, and machine vision systems.
• Familiarity with ABB SafeMove and application-specific RobotStudio PowerPacs.
• Experience with robotic machine tending, material handling, grinding, polishing, or similar manufacturing processes.
• Technical education in robotics, automation, mechatronics, electrical technology, or equivalent practical experience.
