Job Description Summary

Intervention Learning Specialists provide 1 on 1 guidance to helpstudents strengthen various academic, time management, andorganizational skills.

This position specifically supports the mission of the Universityand the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics by assisting ininstitutional compliance with NCAA and Conference rules andregulations.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

• Assess individual student learning needs
• Help students develop appropriate compensatory learning skillsin the areas of study strategies, organization, time management,reading and writing skills, note taking, test taking, etc.
• P rovide consistent and systematic structure for theimplementation of these skills
• Coordinate services with other on-campus academic supportproviders as needed and in accordance to student need
• Maintain an electronic summary of student progress
• Communicate effectively with SAASS staff regarding studentstatus and progress
• Participate in bi-monthly staff meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• Experience working with students in an educational setting
• At least one year of experience applying this effectivelearning strategies in an educational setting; experience workingwith people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Experience gained during internships and/or graduate assistantshipsmay be counted (at half-time) towards these requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Understanding of effective learning strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree
• At least one year of experience working with students in highereducation
• Possession of a teaching certificate and/or at least one yearof experience providing one-on-one academic support
• Professional tutoring or teaching experience is a plus
• Certification and experience in special education is also aplus
