The Michaels Companies Inc. is seeking an Accountant - Indirect Tax to manage sales and use tax duties for assigned U.S. states from our Irving, TX office.

You will prepare monthly workpapers, handle licenses, exemptions, notices, and W-9s, and collaborate with external consultants on tax issues. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 3+ years of related experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of related experience, including account reconciliation.
• Proficient in Excel and the Microsoft suite.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare monthly workpapers related to sales and use tax return compliance, account reconciliations, and journal entries for assigned jurisdictions.
• Work with outside consultants on business license compliance, including gathering data, obtaining signatures, and providing copies of business licenses to stores.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to properly assign Vertex tax categories to new products.
• Review customer-provided exemption certificates and assist with customer inquiries.
• Respond to various jurisdictional notices.
• Prepare W-9s and distribute them to internal and external stakeholders as requested.
• Research and resolve tax technical issues.
