Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. in Irving, TX seeks an experienced Manager of Corporate Accounting to lead the monthly close process and accounting for cash, leases, debt, payroll, and intercompany balances.

You will supervise the onshore team, drive process improvements, and partner with internal control and audit teams. Minimum 6+ years in accounting with ASC 842 lease knowledge and strong Excel skills are required; a Bachelor's in Accounting is essential, with a Masters preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
• Proficient in Excel and strong knowledge of financial statements, internal controls, SOX, and US GAAP.
• 6+ years of experience including ASC 842 lease accounting and supervisory experience desired.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage monthly accounting activities and close process.
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are complete and accurately stated.
• Analyze variances and trends to improve forecasting and decisions.
• Coach and develop the onshore accounting team.
• Coordinate with Internal Control for SOX and internal controls.
• Prepare audit schedules and support external audits.
• Identify process improvements and implement enhancements.
