Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with strong accounting foundation.
• Experience or exposure to indirect tax (sales and use tax, excise) is preferred.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work independently and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

• Support indirect tax function in a fast-paced environment while developing tax and business knowledge.
• Prepare and file indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax returns, federal excise tax returns (Form 720), Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax returns (Form 2290), fuel tax reports, and other transaction tax returns as required.
• Review sales and purchase transactions to ensure taxability and exemption certificate management.
• Assist with indirect tax audits, notices, information requests, and examinations by federal, state, and local authorities.
• Support tax tech initiatives, process improvements, and automation efforts related to sales, use, excise, and fuel taxes.
• Gather, analyze, and reconcile data from financial and operational systems to support indirect tax return preparation and compliance activities.
• Partner with business and accounting personnel across the organization to ensure accurate indirect tax reporting and compliance.
• Research indirect tax laws and communicate findings to supervisors and customers.
