Zusammenfassung

Oklahoma Indigent Defense System in Poteau seeks a full-time Defense Counsel to represent indigent clients in state court at the trial level across felony, misdemeanor, juvenile delinquency, traffic and wildlife cases.

You will provide competent legal advice and zealous advocacy throughout the proceedings, while maintaining case files, performing investigations, and preparing for trial with defense strategy. This role requires travel as needed.

Qualifikationen

• Juris Doctorate degree and active Oklahoma Bar membership or eligibility.
• Travel as required by the position.
• Experience in state court trial practice preferred.

Aufgaben

• Manage case files and pleadings with accuracy.
• Communicate with clients on case matters and negotiations.
• Investigate guilt/innocence and potential sentences.
• Prepare pretrial motions and develop defense strategy.
• Conduct legal research and prepare briefs for motions.
• Prepare for jury selection and voir dire.
