Job summary

Mixteco/Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) is seeking a Community Advocate in Oxnard to advance social, health, and environmental justice for Indigenous communities on California’s Central Coast. The role emphasizes building trust, representing the community, and coordinating with local leaders and agencies.

You will engage residents through outreach, develop testimonies and reports, and collaborate with the Policy Director and other stakeholders to drive meaningful policy changes.

Qualifications

• Bilingual communication skills in Mixteco, Spanish and/or English.
• Public speaking and presentation abilities.
• Experience in community organizing or advocacy.
• Bachelor's or equivalent experience in social-related field.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships within the Indigenous community and with stakeholders.
• Advocate for community needs through meetings, public speaking and outreach.
• Organize events and workshops on social, health and environmental justice.
• Collect and report community data to inform policy and program decisions.
