Job summary

A Bright Future, Inc in Santa Monica is seeking compassionate Community Living Instructors to empower individuals with disabilities by teaching independent living skills and supporting daily routines in home and community settings.

You will provide one-on-one guidance, promote safety, and help participants build confidence, social connections, and self-advocacy through hands-on instruction and patient, person-centered care.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Drug Screening
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire)
• Negative TB test
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance (prior to employment)
• Genuine passion for caregiving and supporting individuals with disabilities
• No prior experience required
• Mandatory paid training will be provided before working independently with participants
• Ongoing support and supervision available

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in homes and community settings.
• Teach independent living skills: personal hygiene and self-care.
• Coach meal preparation and nutrition.
• Assist with household tasks: cleaning, laundry, organization.
• Teach time management and daily routines.
• Support participants in developing social, communication, and self-advocacy skills.
• Assist with community activities: shopping and errands.
• Accompany to medical or personal appointments.
• Support recreational and social outings; transportation training as applicable.
• Encourage participation in community life while promoting independence and safety.
• Monitor participant safety and follow support plans.
• Assist with medication reminders and documentation (as trained).
• Observe and report changes in health or well-being.
• Implement basic behavior support and de-escalation techniques as trained.
• Complete daily service notes, incident reports, progress updates.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team, and families.
• Follow agency policies and confidentiality/regulations.
• Attend trainings and team meetings.
• Maintain professionalism, reliability, punctuality.
• Uphold a patient-centered approach.
