Job summary

Centra Health in Lynchburg, VA seeks an experienced Ultrasound Sonographer to perform complex diagnostic ultrasound imaging across age groups, under physician supervision, in inpatient, outpatient, and OR settings. You will verify orders, review patient history, and provide preliminary findings to the physician.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, maintaining sterile technique, training staff and students, and ensuring patient comfort.

Qualifications

• Associated Degree or Certification in Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Radiology (upon hire).
• ARDMS/CCI registration within specified timeframe after employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasounds for imaging normal and abnormal structures and provide quality care.
• Assess patients before, during, and after procedures per guidelines.
• Train students and staff as assigned.
• Create a safe, comfortable environment for patients and families.
• Prepare patients and perform sonographic exams following defined protocols.
• Notify physician of any unusual patient events.
• Compile records to expedite results.
• Analyze image quality and procedural effectiveness.
• Complete data sheets and forward to radiologist or cardiologist.
• Explain procedures using AIDET and ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Follow department policies and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain orderliness of work areas and secure supplies.
