Job summary

Gauss Management Research & Engineering (GMRE Inc.) seeks a Chief Engineer to serve as the enterprise technical authority, guarding airworthiness and safety across programs. You will provide objective assurance for technical decisions, risks, reviews, and readiness determinations with engineering rigor.

You will work with the Director of Engineering to align capabilities, staffing, and execution, supporting GMRE’s growth in the DoD aviation sector.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is required; a master's is preferred.
Twenty+ years in aerospace/defense systems with DoD experience.
Five+ years in senior technical leadership as Chief Engineer or equivalent.
Active U.S. SECRET clearance is required.

Responsibilities

Provide independent technical oversight across GMRE's programs and technology portfolio.
Review major proposals, new technologies, and enterprise capability decisions.
Chair independent technical reviews and assess evidence for major conclusions.
Mentor senior engineers in systems thinking and risk-based decisions.
Advise leadership on risks, capabilities gaps, and investment priorities.
Ensure technical rigor and readiness across all programs and functions.
Coordinate cross-program lessons learned and reusable engineering practices.
Lead reviews with engineers, executives, customers, and stakeholders.
Maintain airworthiness, safety, and regulatory readiness for DoD programs.
Balance schedule/financial constraints with technical decisions.
