Job summary

Dallas Independent School District is seeking a SPED Inclusion Teacher Assistant to support teachers and students in EC-5 classrooms. You will prepare instructional materials, supervise students, assist with mobility and personal care needs, and help with routine classroom operations.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a paraprofessional certificate, with preferred completion of a teacher assistant training program.

Qualifications

• Requires accredited high school diploma or equivalent.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• Completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students with disabilities and diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom and prepare classroom according to student needs.
• Assist with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitutes teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transferring to/from wheelchairs and positioning.
• Assist with personal care needs including feeding, bathroom tasks and hygiene.
• Support classroom curriculum and instructional exercises as directed.
• Assist with behavior management and crisis handling as needed.
• Ensure confidentiality and participate in staff development activities.
