Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an exceptional education (EC) General Curriculum teacher to implement IEP-aligned instruction for EC students. The role involves developing lesson plans, delivering group and individualized instruction, and supporting school-wide policies under school leadership.

The candidate will collaborate with administrators and educators to create an inclusive learning environment, assess progress, and adapt instruction based on data and student needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree in education preferred.
• Valid or renewing NC Teaching license in assigned area required.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education accepted.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with administration and other educators to create the most complete educational environment for EC students.
• Follow established school procedures for crisis or emergency situations.
• Administer and interpret individual educational testing.
• Utilize data to monitor progress towards academic and behavioral/emotional goals.
• Establish clear objectives for all academic and pro-social skills lessons and communicate these goals to students.
• Modify curriculum/instruction to meet the academic and behavioral/emotional needs of students as documented on IEPs.
• Use appropriate positive behavior intervention strategies to address student behavior.
• Meet with parent(s)/guardian(s) to discuss student progress and determine priorities and resources needed.
