Job summary

Tap Into Hope is seeking a Special Needs Assistant to support an educational program for children with disabilities in Early Head Start/Head Start settings. You will assist with IEPs/IFSPs, provide one-on-one support, and promote inclusive participation under the guidance of teachers and staff.

Responsibilities include collaborating to create an engaging learning environment, supporting social-emotional development, and adapting activities to individual needs while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
• Experience working with children with disabilities, special needs or behavioral health issues preferred.
• Crisis intervention training may be required and progress toward professional development goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in implementing IEPs/IFSPs for children with disabilities.
• Provide one-on-one support including personal care, mobility assistance, and behavioral support.
• Collaborate with the Teacher and staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Support social-emotional development by modeling positive behaviors and facilitating peer interactions.
• Adapt instructional materials to meet individual needs and ensure participation.
• Assist in assessing and documenting children’s progress under guidance of teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality and promote family engagement in the educational process.
• Demonstrate CLASS Tool practices to foster a positive, safe, child-centered environment.
