Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Inclusion Specialist for the Flatbush Afterschool program. You will shape a positive, supportive environment for youth to thrive socially, emotionally, and physically, guiding students in proactive choices and fostering mutual respect.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with children under 13.
• Current Pediatrics CPR or First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and develop programming with the Content Specialist for a diverse group of participants.
• Develop inclusive outreach strategies to connect with individuals facing barriers to participation.
• Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all youth and families.
• Manage participants’ Individualized Accommodation Plans.
• Maintain student behavioral support plans and logs.
• Support tracking systems for student behaviors and collaborate with staff and caregivers.
• Partner with the Program Director to infuse social-emotional development and behavior management into programming.
• Guide staff on implementing behavioral strategies in the learning environment.
• Communicate with DYCD about needs for specialized supports beyond program capacity.
• Ensure staff are familiar with mental health supports and trauma-informed programming.
• Support creation of a resource center for ongoing support.
