Job summary

Central Transport in Kansas City is seeking a Supervisor to oversee inbound operations for the terminal dock and manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel. The role requires coordinating loads, monitoring cube/weight, and ensuring timely, safe dock operations.

Ideal candidates will have strong leadership, prior dispatch/dock experience, and the ability to hire, coach, and mentor staff. The position offers a 50‑hour workweek with shifts including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a team in transportation operations.
• Strong understanding of the LTL trucking industry.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock exposure required.
• Ability to hire, coach, and mentor employees.
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week and weekends.
• Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound operations for your section of the terminal dock.
• Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel.
• Coordinate loads based on available labor and freight levels.
• Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring cube and trailer weight.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers and dock staff.
• Monitor dock production to meet or exceed KPI goals.
• Maintain safety and DOT/OSHA compliance.
• Ensure adherence to company operational model and quality standards.
