Job summary

Central Transport is seeking a major outbound operations leader in California to oversee terminal dock activities, loading, and forklift traffic. You will supervise up to 30 drivers and dock staff, building loads with consideration of labor and freight levels, while maintaining safety and KPI targets.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership, dispatch, and transportation operations experience, with the ability to operate under time constraints in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in transportation operations.
• Strong understanding of LTL trucking operations and safety.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outbound operations for a terminal section, including loading and forklift traffic.
• Manage picking/sortation of palletized freight and ensure accuracy.
• Supervise up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock staff toward a production schedule.
• Use independent judgement to build loads based on labor and freight levels.
• Monitor trailer cube and weight to ensure proper load and carrier readiness.
• Provide leadership and accountability to drivers and dock personnel.
• Monitor dock production and hours to meet or exceed KPI targets.
• Maintain a safe workplace compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Support a culture of excellence in service for internal and external customers.
