Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections, Helen B. Ratcliff Reentry Center in Seattle, seeks a non-permanent Cook 2. Work hours are 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Wednesday–Sunday. This in-training role may start at Cook 1 depending on qualifications.

You will plan, prepare, and serve nutritionally balanced meals for residents, follow safety and sanitation standards, manage inventories, and support ordering and reporting tasks. Optional King County premium applies; ORCA card offered.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ cooking experience in a large-scale food service.
• One (1) year as a Cook 1 in State service.
• Current food handler permit required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation and service of all food on a shift.
• Maintain and organize accurate food inventories and ensure rotation of stock items.
• Ensure safe handling and sanitation of kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Prepare special diets as required and follow recipes with minimal waste.
• Assist with ordering, inventory, storage, and reporting tasks.
