Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a non-permanent Cook 2 at the Helen B. Ratcliff Reentry Center in Seattle, WA. Work hours are 10:00 a.m.

– 6:00 p.m., Wednesday–Sunday, with in-training designation and potential progression to Cook 1 depending on qualifications. Responsibilities include planning, ordering, preparing, serving meals, and ensuring nutritionally balanced, compliant meals for residents, in line with state and federal regulations and budget.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ cooking experience in a large-scale food service or culinary operation.
• One (1) year as a Cook 1 in State service.
• Current food handler permit required.
• Ability to cook a variety of foods and follow recipes with minimal waste.
• Maintain and model high standards of personal hygiene.

Responsibilities

• As a Cook 2, participate in the preparation and service of all food on a shift.
• Perform ordering, inventory, storage, use and reporting tasks.
• Monitor residents and ensure safe and secure operations.
• Maintain tool/calibration and follow HACCP protocols.
• Other duties as assigned.
