The Southern California Learning Corporation is seeking part-time tutors to deliver scripted math and reading instruction at school sites in California. The role supports K-12 students with Mandarin-speaking ESL learners and requires reliable on-site attendance after school hours.

Responsibilities include maintaining a positive learning environment, managing groups of up to 10 students, and tracking attendance and progress. Prior tutoring experience is preferred.

Competenze

• Associate’s degree or completion of at least two years of college toward a four-year degree.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Ability to reliably report to the assigned school site at scheduled times.
• Must obtain a TB clearance and complete a Live Scan background check.

Mansioni

• Deliver guided, scripted curriculum and/or lesson support to groups of up to 10 students.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
• Engage, monitor, and manage assigned students throughout instructional sessions.
• Utilize Sylvan’s motivation program to positively impact student attendance, engagement, and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials needed for assigned sessions.
• Speak Mandarin to help support our ESL students while teaching the Sylvan curriculum.
