Job summary

The Southern California Learning Corporation seeks part-time tutors to support K-12 students in reading and math at school sites, delivering guided, scripted curriculum in small groups and helping students build confidence and independent learning.

Schedules generally range 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., 3–4 days per week, with training provided. ESL support includes Mandarin-speaking assistance to ESL students within Sylvan curriculum.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or two years of college completed.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Reliable attendance at the assigned school site.
• Must obtain TB clearance and complete a Live Scan background check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver guided, scripted curriculum and lesson support to groups of up to 10 students.
• Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
• Engage, monitor, and manage assigned students throughout instructional sessions.
• Utilize Sylvan’s motivation program to positively impact attendance, engagement, and performance.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials needed for assigned sessions.
• Collaborate with Leads and Directors to ensure smooth program execution.
• Speak Mandarin to help support ESL students while teaching the Sylvan curriculum.
