Job summary

The Westin Sarasota in Sarasota, FL is seeking a part-time In-room Dining Server. You will ensure the highest quality dining experience in guest rooms, similar to in-restaurant service, with strong menu knowledge and adherence to liquor laws.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED with 2 years’ guest service experience, 1 year server experience, and current ServSafe and TIPS certifications or ability to obtain upon hire.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED plus 2 years’ guest service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge and ability.
  • Minimum of 1-year server experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and communicating in English.
  • Current ServSafe or other food handler certification or able to obtain upon hire.
  • Current TIPS or other alcohol service certification or able to obtain upon hire.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits a strong menu, beverage and wine knowledge.
  • Adheres to state liquor laws.
  • Keeps the chefs and managers informed of any issue that might affect quality of service or timing.
  • Prepares room service trays/tables.
  • Delivers trays/tables and obtains payment.
  • Processes checks in compliance with cash handling, credit card and room charge policies and procedures.
  • Delivers VIP amenities and other assigned duties.
  • Retrieves room service trays/tables in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • If needed, answers room service calls and shares daily specials.
  • Completes daily side work assignments.
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle high-volume service demands.
  • Cross-trains in Evoq, Ingredients and Banquets.
  • Knowledgeable on Hotel facilities and services to assist guests.
  • Will assist in the restaurant during slow times in In-Room Dining.

Essential functions:
  • Exhibits a strong menu, beverage and wine knowledge.
  • Adheres to state liquor laws.
  • Keeps the chefs and managers informed of any issue that might affect quality of service or timing.
  • Prepares room service trays/tables.
  • Delivers trays/tables and obtains payment.
  • Process checks in compliance with cash handling, credit card and room charge policies and procedures.
  • Delivers VIP amenities and other assigned duties.
  • Retrieves room service trays/tables in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • If needed, will answer room service calls. Follows Hotel’s sell/upsell strategies, communicates daily specials, and answers questions.
  • Completes daily side work assignments.
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle high volumes service demands.
  • Team member will be cross-trained in other restaurants including Evoq, Ingredients and Banquets.
  • Knowledgeable on Hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate.
  • Will assist in the restaurant during slow time in In-Room Dining.
Qualifications
