Job summary

Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando is seeking an In-Room Dining Captain to oversee the hotel's room service operations, manage the server team, and ensure timely delivery of food and beverages to guest rooms.

This role requires at least 1 year of high-volume hospitality experience, strong communication, and attention to detail. You will train staff, monitor supplies, and uphold health and safety standards in a busy resort setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of room service or high-volume hotel experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally 50 lbs.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

Description
Summary:

The In-Room Dining Captain assists management in overseeing the hotel's entire room service operation, including managing the server team, ensuring timely and accurate food and beverage delivery to guest rooms, maintaining high service standards, and addressing guest concerns related to in-room dining.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading and coordinating the room service team, assigning tasks, and ensuring all staff members adhere to service standards.
  • Receiving room service orders via phone, accurately relaying them to the kitchen, and ensuring prompt delivery of food and beverages to guest rooms.
  • Checking the quality and presentation of each room service order before delivery, addressing any discrepancies with the kitchen.
  • Providing excellent customer service, addressing guest requests and concerns, and resolving any issues related to room service.
  • Having thorough knowledge of the room service menu, including ingredients, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
  • Monitoring room service supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels of food, beverages, linens, and serviceware.
  • Coaching and training new room service staff on proper service procedures and guest interaction techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and staff.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in order taking and food presentation.
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and guide the room service team.
  • Assists with bussing, cleaning, and setting tables/trays.
  • Maintains cleanliness of designated areas as directed in accordance with established health and safety standards.
  • Comply with the company's drug-free and tobacco/nicotine-free policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of food server experience in a high-volume, sophisticated, or upscale hotel/resort.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. infrequently.
  • Must be able to legally work in the USA.
Education and Certification(s)/License(s):
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
