Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Tax Advisor to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses, conduct client interviews, and offer personalized tax guidance. You will build lasting client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities while delivering services with compassionate, consultative support.

The role is in-person at a local Block Advisors office, with leading training and technology, a competitive hourly rate, and an incentive plan recognizing impact as you grow tax

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience with complex individual and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred; CPA or EA certifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications; provide recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
