Job summary

Illinois Ag is seeking an Assistant General Counsel for Privacy and Technology to lead the legal design for privacy, data governance, and information law. This role oversees technology and data contracting, AI governance, and cyber incident response, while advising leadership on enterprise risk and regulatory compliance.

The position requires broad expertise in privacy and data protection law, with strong negotiation skills and the ability to work across business units in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state; ability to obtain Illinois license within the first year.
• Extensive experience in privacy, technology transactions, or information law.

Responsibilities

• Owns the legal design and standards of privacy, data governance, and information law across the organization.
• Drafts and negotiates complex technology, data, and service agreements with emphasis on privacy and AI governance.
• Oversees data breach response, incident management, and regulatory reporting.
• Provides enterprise-wide legal counsel on data protection, analytics, and information governance.
