Job summary

Boutique Recruiting is seeking an in-house programmer to own the full lifecycle of home-automation prep and testing for client installations. You will program, test, and ready Control4, Lutron, and Josh AI systems, organize equipment racks, and handle helpdesk support for a high-performance environment.

You will translate complex technical issues into clear client communication, explore upsell opportunities, and participate in R&D on new products to keep our workflows ahead of the curve.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of in-depth Control4 experience in home automation, networking, and rack building.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot sophisticated home automation, networking, lighting, security, and control systems through a client helpdesk.
• Program, configure, update, test, and prepare Control4 systems and equipment before deployment to client homes.
• Build and organize equipment racks while ensuring systems are fully configured and turnkey for installation teams.
• Diagnose and manage network issues using Cisco Meraki, OVRC, VLANs, remote management, and related technologies.
• Maintain detailed system documentation, stockroom organization, equipment records, and firmware updates.
• Research and evaluate emerging automation products and technologies for future implementation.
• Identify opportunities to recommend system upgrades while delivering an exceptional client experience.

Position Title: In House programmer - Home Automations

We are looking for a sharp, technically elite In-House Programmer to be the backbone of our operations - the person who ensures every system that leaves the shop is flawless before it ever reaches a client's home. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll own the full lifecycle of system prep: programming and testing Control 4, Lutron, and Josh AI platforms, managing helpdesk troubleshooting, building and organizing equipment racks, and conducting R&D on emerging products. You'll also be the voice of the company during client interactions - translating complex technical issues into clear, confident communication that builds trust and uncovers upsell opportunities.

Salary: $115000 - $130,000/ Year + Bonus DOE

Requirements

• 2+ years of in-depth Control4 experience in home automation, networking, and rack building
• Intimate knowledge of networking, including VLANs, remote diagnostics, network configuration, and management platforms
• Hands-on experience with Control4, Lutron HomeWorks, Josh AI, OVRC, and Cisco Meraki or comparable systems
• Exceptional diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities with a methodical approach to complex technical problems
• Strong client communication skills with the ability to make highly technical concepts easy for homeowners to understand
• Highly organized, adaptable, patient, strategic, and comfortable working with urgency in a fast-moving environment
• Bachelor's degree and automation or construction industry experience preferred, with hands-on expertise valued over formal education
