Job summary

First American seeks an Associate Operations Counsel to provide in-house legal and regulatory guidance on mortgage servicing and originations, focusing on servicing documents and investor requirements.

You will partner with operations, product, technology and compliance teams to address documentation questions, implement regulatory changes, and counsel management on legal risk, requiring a JD and US bar admission.

Qualifications

  • Law degree required.
  • US bar admission and in good standing.
  • Direct experience with residential mortgage servicing regulations, compliance and documentation.
  • Experience interpreting federal/state mortgage servicing requirements (RESPA, TILA).
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical documentation and workflow changes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house legal and regulatory advice on mortgage servicing and origination.
  • Counsel operations, product, technology and compliance teams on servicing documentation and regulatory changes.
  • Research and interpret federal/state mortgage servicing laws and investor requirements.
  • Develop and maintain mortgage servicing documents and forms for compliance.
  • Collaborate with clients' legal/compliance contacts to resolve servicing questions.
