Georgia’s Own Credit Union is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Litigation to lead the credit union’s litigation portfolio and drive risk-based resolutions. You will collaborate with the General Counsel and business leaders to manage disputes, regulatory matters, and legal process administration.

The role requires strong litigation, risk management, and negotiation skills, with experience overseeing outside counsel and guiding resolution strategies for complex member disputes.

Formación

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school required.
• Active admission to practice law in Georgia and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia required.
• Minimum of 5 to 8 years of litigation experience, preferably within financial services, banking, credit unions, consumer finance, or other regulated industries.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing litigation matters and outside counsel.
• Prior in-house legal experience preferred but not required.

Responsabilidades

• Manage a portfolio of litigation and dispute matters, including consumer claims, member disputes, collections-related litigation, and employment or commercial disputes, coordinating with the General Counsel on high-exposure matters.
• Review pleadings, motions, discovery responses, settlement proposals, and other litigation documents.
• Coordinate internal discovery efforts, document preservation, witness preparation, and document production.
• Support resolution of complex, high-risk member complaints and escalations requiring attorney involvement.
• Provide legal risk assessments and guidance to business partners on dispute resolution strategies.
• Manage settlement negotiations, mediation efforts, and alternative dispute resolution when appropriate.
• Prepare litigation status reports and recommendations for the General Counsel and stakeholders.
