Job summary

Shepherd Insurance in Carmel, IN seeks an Infrastructure Engineer to own the day-to-day health, reliability, and security of core tech infrastructure. You’ll manage servers, virtualization, network, identity, endpoints, and backup, partnering with IT leadership to keep systems stable and documented.

You’ll work hands-on, implement standards, monitor performance, respond to incidents, and help transition in-house operations while supporting business continuity across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in a similar infrastructure role.
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization.
• Experience with insurance/regulated industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Windows and Linux servers, patching and updates.
• Administer VMware/vSphere and hypervisor management for uptime.
• Manage Fortinet firewalls, switches, routers, and load balancers.
• Support Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Intune/Autopilot.
• Develop infrastructure documentation and standards.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning and backups.
