Job summary

The Farm Credit System is seeking an internal legal counsel to work with the General Counsel to shape regulatory posture and ensure that the association’s practices align with policies and procedures governing lending operations. The role supports the Risk Management function and helps maintain bylaws and policy manuals.

Reporting to the CEO, this position emphasizes compliance oversight, policy adoption processes, and training coordination, while upholding high standards of legal oversight

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission to practice law in the state.
• 1–3 years of law practice experience.

Responsibilities

• Researches and analyzes internal legal issues; renders opinions to management and/or board.
• Advises officers and board members on routine legal questions related to lending operations and corporate matters.
• Manages bylaws, policies, procedures manual, and processes for policy adoption, publishing and review.
• Monitors compliance; keeps informed on policy updates and coordinates training as needed.
• Serves as Compliance Officer and as Standards of Conduct Officer for the association.
