Job summary

River Valley AgCredit is seeking an Attorney to serve as internal legal counsel and trusted advisor to its leadership team and Board of Directors. The role involves researching legal matters, guiding lending operations, and supporting risk management, with a focus on bylaws, policies, and regulatory compliance.

The attorney will collaborate with General Counsel and report to the CEO, helping align business practices with applicable laws and regulations within a financial institution serving

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Successful completion of a state bar examination and qualified to practice law in the state.
• Minimum of one to three years of law practice experience.
• Strong legal research, analysis, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate legal and regulatory concepts to management, employees, and Board

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze internal legal issues and provide opinions, recommendations, and guidance to management and the Board of Directors.
• Advise officers and Board members on legal questions related to lending operations, loan administration, and internal corporate matters.
• Collaborate with General Counsel to determine and protect the Association’s legal interests.
• Provide an internal control layer for credit processes and policies.
• Manage bylaws and policies and procedures manual.
• Coordinate policy and procedure development, adoption, publication, review, and revision.
• Monitor regulatory, legal, policy, and procedural developments affecting the Association.
• Assist with employee training on applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Support the Association’s overall risk management function.
• Provide guidance on litigation, bankruptcy, settlements, and other legal matters.
• Identify potential legal and regulatory risks with leadership and recommend solutions
